Downtown Date

Today, Allie and I ventured from the suburbs into Houston. We took the Park and Ride downtown. Then we took the light rail to the metro office to get our student bus passes. Umm, not so fun. They sure make you jump through some hoops to get a 50% discount on public transit. Then we took the bus to the Galleria, because Allie's going to be working near there this summer. We checked out Ann Taylor Loft and headed across the street to surprise our dad at work.

Of course, he just happened to have a lunch meeting that day, so our plan didn't exactly work out. We took the bus back downtown and had our favorite lunch at Jason's Deli - kid's baked potatoes. You get 5000+ calories for only $3.50 - talk about a good value!

Our main reason for the excursion was some training Allie had to complete for her summer job. It was at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, so while she was in class I read a book in the cathedral.

It was really neat to see many businessmen stop in and pray for a few minutes. The cathedral's only a few years old, so it's very modern, but absolutely beautiful!
