We've had more free time this summer than we've ever had before and will probably ever have again. Since I am just working 30 hours a week at the moment, I have time to get all the chores done during the week while Adam's still at work. It's so nice! Here's how we've been filling our evenings and weekends:
Being Active-ish. Something we can be really bad at during the school year, especially in the winter. We are not gym people though. We try to swim laps about once a week. The rest of the time, we go for walks after dinner in a huge nearby park.
Playing Games. When it's just the two of us, we love to play gin rummy. And sometimes speed or bananagrams. We also try to have friends over once a week for dinner and a favorite board game, like Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride.
Reading. We rarely have the same taste in fiction, but we usually read non-fiction books together. Well, we don't sit on the couch and read one copy of a book together. But our system is sort of like one person will read while the other is in the shower and vice-versa. It's fun to chat about books together!
Watching TV. We love a good funny tv show. So far this year, we have watched every episode of Everybody Loves Raymond and Seinfeld. Now we are watching Scrubs thanks to Netflix Instant. Sadly, we are on the very last season already. What to watch next?
Of course, we don't spend every moment together. Sometimes Adam plays a computer game while I work on a craft project. And sometimes I drag Adam shopping with me. Like tonight, because I am dying to check out the new two-story Target that just opened. I've heard there's a special escalator for shopping carts....
