We spent the last four days vacationing in Seattle, thanks to a really random interview Adam landed at a major software company.
Saturday was mostly spent in the air, making our way from Pittsburgh to Seattle. The company purchased Adam's ticket on Delta and we used United frequent flier miles to purchase my ticket. So, we had to fly separately. Lame. But, luckily our flights were really close together and at least there was no fighting over the window seat!
When we got into Seattle, we checked into The Four Points Sheraton downtown {scored on Hotwire}, grabbed some dinner at a nearby Thai place, and headed to bed.
We woke up early Sunday morning {thanks, jet lag!}, had breakfast at the hotel, and went to Mass a little church near the Space Needle.
We each picked one thing we'd like to see on Sunday. I chose the Pike Place Market, so we walked over there after church.
After browsing through the market for a while, we stopped for lunch.
The most amazing mac & cheese ever from here.
Followed by some delicious salmon and clam chowder from here.
Of course, we also had to grab a drink at the original Starbucks.
Adam wanted to see some of the famous Pacific Northwest outdoors, so we headed to Golden Gardens Park on the banks of the Puget Sound.
We skipped stones, walked on the beach, and just took in the beautiful view.
When the sun started to set, it was time to head to The Westin Bellevue, where the software company was putting us up for the next two nights.
Adam spent the night at a company-hosted dinner and bowling event, while I relaxed in our room.
Monday was his big interview day . Our hotel was right next to a big shopping center, so while he was off interviewing, I did a little shopping at a few stores we don't have in Pittsburgh.
On Monday night, we had dinner at a fancy seafood restaurant, Elliott's Oyster House.
Then we checked out the view from the Space Needle.
We were originally planning to leave for Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning. However, after the interviews on Monday, the company told Adam that he wasn't a great fit for the position he applied for. Instead, they wanted him to stay on Tuesday to interview for a different position they thought he would find more challenging.
So, I took my original flight back to Pittsburgh. Adam stayed to sit through another round of interviews and then took the red-eye home.
We had an amazing time this weekend. We are still pinching ourselves over the fact that we got to stay in swanky hotels and explore a part of the country we've never seen before, while only shelling out $150 of our own moolah.

Sounds like a great quick trip! It seems like a good sign that they thought he needed a "more challenging" position, right? I'm glad you ended up getting a pseudo-babymoon after all!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you guys and Adam's interview! And you trip sounded awesome! Also, I loved the kissing silhouette picture. And, I hope you share your purchases.
