We spent our Labor Day in Ballard, a neighborhood on the west side of town. First, we had a little picnic lunch at Golden Gardens Park.

And then we went to see the salmon at the locks.

The salmon climb up this fish ladder to come from Puget Sound into fresh water.

They really look like they're waiting in line!

We also saw quite a few sea lions. This one just caught himself some lunch.
It was such a beautiful day!
We actually moved to Seattle during the second-longest drought on record. It didn't rain for almost fifty days straight. The weather was amazing and the skies were so blue all the time. I think we've gotten a very unusual impression of the Pacific Northwest so far!
claire looks ridiculous.
