The Nursery, So Far

It's a work in progress, but here is what Claire's room looks like these days.

Nursery Sept 2012

While we were expecting, we bought a Jenny Lind crib and mattress from Craig's List. But, the events of Claire's birth turned us into somewhat overly-cautious parents and we worried too much about using a crib that wasn't quite up to the latest safety standards. So, we donated it and bought a new one. The letter "C" is from JoAnn's. I just really liked the cardboard color for some reason, so I left it like that and added a few flowers made from scrap fabric.

The little yellow side table was in our old living room. Now we use it to hold Claire's monitor and an iPod dock for white noise. The basket under the side table holds random car seat and stroller accessories.

On the other side of the room, we have her dresser/changing table {which used to be in our bedroom}, a hand-me-down rocking chair, and a twin bed. The changing pad cover was a Goodwill find. Right now, the twin bed is for guests. I'm pretty sure Allie appreciated not having to sleep on an air mattress for her two-week visit! Hopefully, though, it will be Claire's big girl bed one day and we will have another little baby sleeping in the crib.

Here's a close-up of the frame wall. The three larger frames house cute prints that I've admired for a while. The rest of the frames display a random assortment:

- Baby pictures of me and Adam.
- Cross stitch baby announcements for the two of us, found when cleaning out our childhood bedrooms over the summer.
- A picture of Claire at three months from our family photos.
- A portrait of Saint Clare.

If and when Claire shares this room with a sibling, we can just move up the frames on the end to add the younger babe's three-month photo and saint namesake portrait.

One of my favorite items in the this room is this beautiful night light. It was a gift from Claire's godfather. {The spray bottle is filled with water for misting cloth wipes.}

The quilt and sham are also in the running for my favorite thing about Claire's room. They're so happy!

The last side of the room is home to the closet. {The bag hanging from the closet knob is for dirty cloth diapers.}

I may possibly have a small obsession with storage containers. And chalkboard labels. As you can see, I'm in the midst of changing Claire's summer clothes for fall. She's finally outgrowing 0-3 month clothing!

I'd say she likes it!

P.S. The crib sheets, twin quilt and pillow sham are from Garnet Hill. The letters, numbers, and Child of God prints are from Sugar Fresh on Etsy.
