On Saturday, we made our first trip to the state fair!
We saw some cows and pigs and giant pumpkins. Clare loved taking in all the new sights.
Of course, the real reason everyone comes to the state fair is for the food.
Now, this was our first trip to any state fair because we grew up attending the Houston Rodeo. My favorite things about the rodeo are:
- Seeing suburban Houstonians channel their inner cowboy.
- You know, the actual rodeo events. And the relatively cheap concerts that follow. Like Beyonce!
- The wide variety of fried food. We're talking fried oreos, fried twinkies, fried snickers bars. Just to name a few.
Well, try as we might, we could not find a single fried dessert item at the state fair. Apparently, in Washington, the traditional fair food is...scones. Scones, people!
To be fair, the scones were really quite tasty. But still.
Oh those healthy Washingtonites! What's a state fair without fried!?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we were ever at the same Houston Rodeo! I believe I saw Destiny's Child & 98 degrees one year... and one of the country singers Josh (not sure which one, hah!)...

Hmm, we probably have! I remember seeing Destiny's Child in seventh grade, I think!
