Chihuly Garden and Glass

We first heard of the glass artist, Dale Chihuly, when he exhibited some pieces at Phipps Conservatory, a favorite Pittsburgh spot. When we moved to Seattle, we learned that he's originally from the Pacific Northwest and has a museum at the base of the Space Needle! So, on Saturday morning, we headed downtown with my mom and brother to check it out.

Tickets are $19 a person, which is pretty steep, but we got a discount through Adam's work. I'm pretty sure the museum also sells a package deal with admission to the Space Needle. The exhibition hall and the gardens aren't huge. You could definitely do the whole thing in an hour, which is perfect for a toddler's attention span.

Claire loved it! When she's really excited, she scrunches up her eyes and nose for a smile. I may be biased, but it's just the cutest thing.

Dick's Drive-In

We had lunch at Dick's Drive-In, a hamburger place that's kind of a Seattle institution. Somehow, they haven't raised their prices much since opening in the 1950s {a burger is $1.25} and rumor has it that Bill Gates once tried to pay with a thousand dollar bill...

It was raining all day Sunday, so we didn't get out much, but we had dinner at Judy Fu's Snappy Dragon in Fremont and ice cream at Molly Moon's. Although they live in Shanghai, what my mom and brother missed most about America was Chinese food, ha!
