Two Years

Untitled

Our second year of marriage has been the year of the unexpected. If you asked us on our first anniversary where we would be on our second, we would have said that we planned to be moving back to Texas for Adam to get his PhD. Instead, he went into the workforce and we ended up moving to Seattle. Not to mention, Claire's unexpected arrival...

I feel like, in our first year of marriage, we were just two kids playing house. This year, it got real. These last five months, particularly, have been really stressful.

Our daughter had a very traumatic birth. She spent two weeks in the NICU. Adam graduated from college. We took a newborn on a long, exhausting trip to visit all our relatives. We moved across the country to a new city where we don't know anyone. Adam started his first job. We dealt with, and are still dealing with, frustrating feeding and sleeping issues.

Of course, the last five months have also brought a lot of joy. Meeting our daughter, introducing her to family, welcoming her into the Church, seeing her laugh and smile. And the last five months have brought us closer together in ways we could never have imagined. I'm so glad to have this man by my side for better and for worse.

  1. Happy Annoversary you two! Life has certainly been a whirlwind for you see past few months, but I don't think anyone could have handled it with more grace and faith as you and Adam. Moving is hard to do without children. Add one, and it gets more complicated. Add two...and girrrrrrl. This one was a doozy. And that whole finding new community thing. But, you hit the nail on the head...all of these stress and changes should bring you closer to that dear husband, as well as help give you stronger faith and trust. A fruitful second year indeed. Prayers to many more blessed and joyful years, but maybe a little quieter one this year. :)
