Tulip Festival

Did you know that more tulips are grown in Washington than anywhere else in the country? They are all grown in Skagit Valley, about an hour north of Seattle, and every year during harvest season there's a big tulip festival to celebrate.

We went to the festival on Saturday with our friends, Libby and Jon. On the way there, Claire threw up all over her car seat for the second time that week. Libby and Jon were super patient as we cleaned out the car, found a store to buy her some clean clothes {we did actually pack her a new outfit, but it accidentally fell in the mud} and switched the car seat to front-facing. We can't be sure, but we thought she might be getting car sick {it really runs in Adam's family} and, so far, she seems to be much happier facing forward. They are expecting a baby girl in June, so I guess we gave them a taste of the not-so-fun parts of parenthood?

Although we left Seattle at 9:30, thanks to that little incident mentioned above, we didn't make it to the festival until noon. We were all more than ready for lunch and this place certainly delivered.

There were fields upon fields of tulips and daffodils. Amazing!

There are two different gardens where, for a small fee, you can take in the tulips up close. Because it was raining that day, of course, we picked Tulip Town based on their advertisement of indoor displays.

After we meandered through the indoor section for a while, it cleared up enough to venture outdoors. It was super, super muddy so we didn't wander through the fields much, but it was still such a gorgeous sight to see.

Claire loved talking in all the colors!

On the way home, we stopped at a little produce stand for the largest ice cream cones I've ever seen.

Have I mentioned how much we love it here and how you should really come visit?
