My dad and little brother, Scott, flew back to China on Boxing Day, but my mom extended her trip by a few more days to visit her sister on Vancouver Island. While she was visiting my Aunt Patty and Uncle Terry, they came down for the day to visit us! We played with the babies, introduced them to the wonders of Five Guys, and just had a lovely time.
Adam took the week between Christmas and New Year's off work. It was so, so nice having him home. We spend most of the time relaxing and enjoying each other's company, but we also like to devote this time of year to our traditional closet/toy/book clean-out and budget review/planning session. Both help me feel like we're starting the year off with a clean slate! We also gave Claire a job of her own - making thank you notes.
We took pictures of Claire and Maggie in all the cute matching outfits they received to enclose in the cards.
On Sunday, we had some friends from our "young marrieds" group at church over for a potluck and since it was almost Epiphany, we ordered a Galette de Rois from our favorite French bakery.
It was delicious and I actually found the prize in my slice! But instead of a baby, what we were expecting having grown-up with Louisiana king cakes, it was a symbol of the TGV high-speed train. So, I'm not really sure what that's supposed to be mean...
