We've been living in our new place for about a month now. We've been trying to go room by room, making things organized and liveable. Once that's all settled, I'll start thinking about curtains and art. So far, we've got four rooms done - the nursery, the bathrooms, and the kitchen.
We got another Ikea crib for the nursery. We're planning to get Maggie in there, at least at night, in the next few weeks. When Claire's not happy with her crib anymore we'll take one side off and turn it into a toddler bed. Right now, we keep quiet toys (books and puzzles) in there and everything else in the playroom. Their clothes are organized - we finally ordered more cloth diapers so both girls are wearing them and we did the big fall/winter to spring/summer clothing switch-up even though it's still fifty degrees here most days. Wishful thinking!
One day I'd like to get a chair for that spot next to the closet. Hopefully a rocker or glider, but it'll need to be something pretty small.
In the kitchen, we finally got a spice rack that actually holds all our spices, instead of having some in the spice rack and some in the pantry and never remembering what's what. We're trying to keep our phones out of the bedroom, so we also got a charging station to leave them in here instead. We came up with a new trash/recycling/compost situation and organized the pantries. Yep, we have two - one on either side of the hall bathroom. So far we're keeping stuff we use every day in the one closer to the kitchen and less frequently used stuff in the other one. Next on the list is getting some herbs to grow in the green window over the sink!

The hall bathroom (it's the middle door) didn't require much - just purchasing a new soap dispenser, toothbrush holder, trash can, etc.
But in the main bath, Adam and our friend Steven removed the glass doors from the tub! Bathing the girls is now a million times less annoying. We're still working on scrubbing off all the caulk left behind though. Any tips? It's clear at least, so it's not too noticeable and definitely liveable for now.
Four rooms down, four to go. And the garage and backyard, of course. Our room is almost done and then it's onto the playroom!
Wow, you are so organized!! I am majorly impressed! And I love your house. Do you remember where you got that bookshelf for the girls' room? I would like some sort of shelving for Michael's room although he may just end up climbing it which would be a bad thing ... We just have SO many kids books!
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful, especially the nursery! Also, I recognize that wet bag—we registered for the exact some one. Great minds think alike. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it so far! It would be a dreeeeam to find someplace like this for the fall! Can't wait to see the rest done, too. You're making great progress!
