Lauren from Busy Bee Lauren!
Lauren and her husband, Ted, have been married for a little over a year. They live in Arizona and are very busy kids {hence the blog name} with school, work, family, and friends. Here's what Lauren had to say about getting married young.
1. How old were you two when you got married? How long had you been dating?
I was 20 and Ted was 21 when we got married. We were young, heck, we are STILL babies, but it felt right, and it was the best decision we have ever made! We started dating when I was 15 and he 16...so we dated 5 years.
2. Do you think waiting until you were both done with school would have improved your married life?
If we had waited until we were done with school, things would have been very different. We would have more money and probably be able to buy a house. Things would be different, but who cares? Struggling together to make ends meet is such a precious time in a marriage. We are working hard together, to support each other. We support each other's education endeavors. We are learning together. Life is good.
3. What advice would you give to a couple planning to get married young?
My advice is, learn how to communicate. Instead of "you made me so mad when you did this" say, "i feel sad because of this". By expressing feelings instead of throwing accusations, it will create a more warm atmosphere where you feel you are able to come to each other about anything. Also, don't stress over bills and money. It is so easy to get in disagreements about money, and it isn't worth it. Before you get married plan out who will take care of the bills. Discuss debt. Discuss those boring things, because knowing ahead of time is for the best. Also, set goals together. Having long-term goals and short-term goals is a wonderful thing in a marriage.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Lauren!
Good advice! I love Busy Bee Lauren!
