New Job

New Job

Adam and I both have the ability to do really well on standardized tests. It has been an incredible blessing in our lives. Without high test scores, we wouldn't have gotten full scholarships to Pitt. And without scholarships, it would have been a lot more difficult to get married in college.

Now, this ability has blessed me with a new job! I have officially been offered a position as an instructor for a national test prep company. I get to teach and the pay is pretty good, so I'm excited.

The only downside is that it won't be quite full-time. I've got my job in the computer lab till August, but once that ends I'll try to find another part-time gig.

I know it seems like it would have made more sense to keep looking for a full-time position. But several factors pushed me towards this new job.

- I can easily transfer locations when we most likely move in a year for Adam's grad school. The idea of starting job hunting all over again in 12 months wasn't very appealing.

- The hours are mostly evenings and weekends. And you can have as many or as few hours as you'd like. So it will be really easy to continue when we have kids if need be, as a way to bring in a little extra money for fun stuff.

- The economy isn't too hot right now. And history isn't exactly the most employable college degree. After a semester of job searching with not much luck, I was starting to worry that I wouldn't really find a decent full-time job.

So, that's our big news around here! It feels so good to have that weight off my shoulders.

  1. Congrats girl! You two are really lucky to be able to perform well on standardized tests. Brett and I do not have that skill.

    Enjoy your new job!
