Nawlins

While visiting our parents in Houston, we took a quick road trip to visit Adam's paternal grandfather, who lives about an hour outside of New Orleans. His little sister, Katie, {she's about to be a senior in high school} came along for the ride.

Someone barely survived their time in Louisiana! 

On our first night there, we had dinner at a great Cajun place in the French quarter.

Of course, we had to grab some beignets at Cafe du Monde for dessert!

We had lunch with Grandpa {who just turned 91} twice and had plenty of time to visit.



He entertained us with funny stories about life at the retirement complex, like how he has to constantly fend off elderly ladies on the prowl. Claire's middle name, Camille, is after his late wife.

We got to stay at his Aunt Liz's awesome house in the country. She has some really beautiful live oak trees in her yard that are over two-hundred years old.

And she also has a pool, so Claire got to take her first swim!

As you can tell, she wasn't a big fan.

We would have loved to stay longer, but three days was all we could squeeze in during our whirlwind tour of the south.



It was a short but sweet trip!
