Before I tell you anymore about our new life, I figured I should tell you about the last weekend of our old life, as a family of three. I mentioned earlier that my sister, Allison, very generously offered to rearrange her work schedule {an awesome perk of being a nurse!} and fly up for Maggie's birth. She was here for a few days beforehand and then took care of Claire while we were in the hospital.
On Saturday, we headed to Snoqualmie Falls to check out the fall foliage. We did see lots of colorful leaves on the drive there, but where the falls should be, there was just a crazy thick layer of fog!
So, we had lunch at the Salish Lodge, the hotel atop the waterfall. They're famous for brunch, which is pretty amazing, but we skipped it this time in favor of their other restaurant. That one mainly does brick-oven pizzas, which are also pretty delicious.
We've been to the falls a lot, a lot since moving here over a year ago. The entire time, the trail that leads to the bottom of the falls has been under construction. But this visit, it was finally open! I'd basically made peace with having a c-section by this point, but we joked that if hiking up and down a waterfall didn't make Maggie come out on her own, well, nothing would. Don't worry, though, it was only half a mile each way! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The falls are used for hydroelectric power and you can see some of the power plant in the last photo. We took it easy on Sunday, like we usually at least try to do. After Claire's nap, we broke out the finger paint and let her paint the pumpkin we picked a few weeks ago!
She was a little hesitant at first, but ended up loving it. And we didn't mind skipping out on the pumpkin carving this year!

Oooh the trail is open! I guess we're just going to have to come back to Seattle! ;o)
