7QT: Snippets From The Week

1.) Saturday. Our across-the-hall neighbors invited us over for dinner this evening. They are originally from Pakistan and treated us to some of their favorite meals from back home. They emphasized that they made sure to keep things really mild for us. I think we'll have to make Crawfish Etouffee for them in exchange so they can see that we actually do keep things pretty spicy!

Claire's future play kitchen! We may be insane for taking this on right now...

2.) Sunday. Just when I thought we might make it all the way to Candlemas, we took advantage of the girls' rare joint nap this afternoon to finally take down our Christmas decorations. We'd love to have a real tree next year, but I'm kind of allergic to nature so I'm not sure how that'll work out.

Just chillin'.

3.) Monday. We started watching the new episode of Sherlock at 9:30 this evening and promised ourselves that we'd stop it at 10:00. Five minutes into the show, we knew there was no way that was happening.

Sweetly sleeping.

4.) Tuesday. Maggie turned three months old today! She's such a happy, easy baby (most of the time) and we're so blessed to have her in our family. In other exciting news, after months upon months of asking for a piece of mine and then refusing to actually try it, Claire finally decided to like clementines.

We do our best baking on the floor around here.

5.) Wednesday. Our pediatrician was in front of us in the checkout line at Target this morning. She was stocking up on cat food. It's always sort of fascinating to see someone outside of the context you normally interact with them in, you know?

Three months already?! Say it ain't so!

6.) Thursday. The girls were both cranky today and I got approximately zero minutes to myself, so I was cranky too. After their failed naps, we went for a really long walk in the much-needed sunshine. A neighbor we met in the elevator who saw me pushing Claire in the stroller and wearing Maggie remarked that I had my hands full. I feel like moms tend to get offended by that statement and I'm not quite sure why.  I certainly have my hands full right now!

All snuggled up.

7.) Friday. After the girls were in bed, I escaped to return a few things at Kohl's. I'm on the look-out for a couple nursing-friendly dresses and a new winter coat (mine doesn't have a hood - not the best idea in Seattle) but I left empty-handed.

Go see Jenn for some much more interesting takes! But cuter pictures of babies? Definitely not!

  1. 2--maybe spend a few hours at the house of a friend with a real tree, and see how it goes? I'm basically allergic to nature, too, but I don't have a problem with the Christmas tree.
    3--*Love* Sherlock!
6--I always find it interesting what offends some people and not others. Example: I think its perfectly fine for a person to say "I don't care what gender baby is, as long as its healthy!" I know some women get upset by that, saying we should all be happy for a baby, healthy or not... but, don't we all wish healthiness on our child?? It doesn't mean I'll love her less if she's not healthy, but I still want her to be healthy!

  2. Maggie is so so sweet. :)

  3. i just can't get into sherlock. isaac henry always wants to eat a clementine and then when i give him one he puckers and says "too juicy!" haha. silly kiddos. the only time it offends me when people say my hands are full is if i feel like they are implying my kids are bratty or something. the other day at kroger an old man stopped me and said "well, you've got room for at least 3 more in that buggy!" i'd much rather hear that! i liked this blog post! it was fun.
