Moving five minutes away sure is a lot easier than moving across the country, but we've still got plenty of unpacking to do and not much time to do it. I didn't want to keep you guys hanging for too long, though, so I thought I'd quickly post some completely unedited pictures of our new place. Here's a totally not-to-scale floor plan to help you make sense of them:
We'll start with the living room.
We have another white bookshelf that we'd ideally like to put where the tv stand is, so maybe we'll mount the tv above the mantel? We also plan to fit two chairs in here somewhere for more seating. Oh, and that door next to the tv stand is a coat closet.
You walk through the living room to the kitchen.
In the hallway between the kitchen and the playroom there's two small pantries and the guest bathroom (with just a shower). I completely forgot to take pictures of that room though, so it'll have to wait until next time!
The playroom is the only carpeted area in the house. It's obviously badly in need of some organization.
The door leads out to the garage, where our new washer and dryer are housed.
Back in the living room, we'll head down the hallway to bedrooms and main bath.
That door at the very end of the hall is the linen closet. The main bath is the first door on the left.
We really want to remove those doors on the bath tub. So annoying for bathing small children! The other bath is very similar to this one in terms of tile, hardware, cabinets, etc.
The last door on the left is the nursery.
That bookshelf (from Target) was our first new purchase for the house. We're planning to get another crib when we move Maggie in here too - hopefully very soon!
Across from the nursery is the master bedroom.
We do miss the walk-in closet from our old apartment. Right now, we put our dresser and all my clothes in the guest room, but that's not a great long-term solution.
Next to the master bedroom is the guest bedroom. It's kind of a mess.
We're planning to get another twin bed before my family comes to visit from China this summer. And hopefully we'll have the clothes situation figured out by then too.
So that's exactly what our new home looks like on a Friday afternoon, a week after getting the keys. I'd love to stay here and chat, but Adam's mom is in town visiting. Then next week my sister is coming to visit and we've got a certain little girl's second birthday to celebrate!
Thanks for sharing! It looks so great!! What a find! When you're done unpacking, maybe I'll hire you as my rental home hunter :).
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks great! I love the floors! And the kitchen looks nice and bright which is so important I think, considering how much time you end up spending there! Does your sliding glass door open on a yard?
ReplyDeleteIts beautiful! I'm jealous of your kitchen :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, your new place looks gorgeous!! Can't wait to see how you decorate it!
