Yesterday, we welcomed Maggie into the Catholic Church!
Maggie wore the same gown that Adam's mom was baptized in. Adam and of all his cousins wore it too, so she was the third generation and fourteenth person to be baptized in it.
We asked our good friends from the Newman Center, Joe and Alex, to be her godparents. They are seniors are Pitt right now, but they're getting married in May and then moving out to Seattle, where Joe will be working at the same company as Adam.
After the baptism, we had a little party at our place to celebrate. Andy, Marie, Libby, Jon, and their little girl, Paige, also joined us. We just barely squeezed around our table! Maggie's patron saint is St. Margaret of Scotland, whose feast day happened to fall on Saturday, so we tried to plan a Scottish-inspired menu that could also be completely prepared in advance. We served crock pot beef stew, bread, salad, apple cider, gingersnaps, and shortbread. We couldn't have done it without all of Joe and Alex's help the night before!
Sorry for the unfortunately blurry picture, but as a baptism gift, we gave Maggie a board book and a St. Margaret doll.

It was such a great day. We're so grateful to have an awesome group of friends to celebrate with us and we're especially thankful that Maggie's godparents were willing to fly out from Pittsburgh for the occasion!
Pretty gown, and I love that its on its 3rd generation! I love to hear about people's baptism gown traditions :-) Our Goddaughter was baptized in the gown I wore when I was a baby. We are having Chuck's sister knit a gown that I hope to use for all our children.
